MenuCal Terms of Service

1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of MenuCal (the "App"), a free macOS application published by Saketh ("I", "we"). By installing or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. What the App is
MenuCal is a macOS menu bar application that displays your calendar events and lets you set your RSVP on Google Calendar invitations. It is provided free of charge, as is, with no service level and no guarantee of continued development. I may change or discontinue it at any time.
3. No service, no account
MenuCal runs entirely on your Mac. There is no hosted service, no account, and no infrastructure I operate on your behalf. Consequently there is nothing for me to suspend, terminate, or take away — the copy you have installed keeps working for as long as macOS and the Google Calendar API continue to support it.
4. Your Google account
Connecting a Google account is optional. If you do, you authorise MenuCal to read your Google Calendar events and to update your own attendance response on them, as described in the Privacy Policy. You remain responsible for keeping your Google credentials and your Mac secure. You may revoke the App's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the App to access calendars or accounts you are not authorised to access;
- use the App to break any law or infringe anyone's rights;
- use the App in a way that violates Google's own terms of service;
- misrepresent a modified build of the App as the official one.
6. Open source licence
MenuCal's source code is released under the MIT licence, available at github.com/sak3th/menucal. That licence governs your rights to the code: to use, copy, modify, and redistribute it. These terms govern your use of the compiled application I distribute. Where the two conflict in respect of the source code, the MIT licence prevails.
7. Third-party services
MenuCal depends on Apple's EventKit framework and the Google Calendar API. Your use of Google's services is governed by Google's own terms. I do not control those services and am not responsible for their availability, behaviour, or any change to them — including changes that break the App.
8. No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that calendar information it displays will be accurate or complete, or that an RSVP submitted through it will be successfully recorded.
Do not rely on the App as your sole record of a commitment. Verify anything that matters in Calendar.app or Google Calendar directly.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, profits, business, or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use the App — including any missed meeting, incorrect RSVP, or scheduling error. Because the App is supplied free of charge, my total aggregate liability to you is limited to USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. Where that is the case, the exclusions and limitations above apply to you only to the extent permitted by the law of your jurisdiction, and nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. The date above changes with them, and the full revision history is public in the site repository. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
